This Pride Collection was generously given to Wagner College by the Pride Center of Staten Island in 2021. By gifting this collection to the college, they are promoting awareness of the role of activists, prominent figures, and organizations in the ongoing fight to achieve equality. This collection is a snapshot of what was held in the Pride Center's community library in 2021, providing insight into the cultural, educational, and social contributions and interests of the LGBTQIA+ community in Staten Island.

Gender Identity
Transgender and nonbinary identities are constantly evolving with open discussion of self-identities gradually becoming accepted mainstream topics in modern society. Gender identity issues directly relate to equality and acceptance of LGBTQIA+ individuals. Gender identity is each person's individual experience of gender. This identity is a person's sense of being a woman, a man, both, neither, or anywhere along the gender spectrum. A person's gender identity may be the same or different from their biological sex assigned at birth. This section provides selected resources from the Pride Collection that focus on issues of Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Trans or Transgender people, and Gender Non-Conforming people.
