Student contributor spotlight: Bryce Palmyra
This guide was created in 2022 by Bryce Palmyra, a graduate of Wagner College, during his time as an undergraduate. The guide is now maintained and updated by our librarians.
Bryce's personal statement: "A staunch advocate for social justice and human rights, Bryce believes in the power that exists when we unite across all diverse intersecting communities. Born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina, he carries his southern heritage and down-home hospitality while also taking pride in looking for new approaches to old systems through creativity. Bryce believes you can achieve anything you are passionate about and willing to work for. His personal and professional life is a reflection of his artistry and innovative mindset."
This guide is designed to be a starting point for Wagner College community members interested in researching LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and Non-Binary/Non-Conforming) studies and topics. Use the tabs along the side to navigate to pages on both specific LGBTQIA+ topics within the Pride Collection and within the entire library collections and databases. You can also find resources to help guide you along each step of your research and writing process. Have a question for one of our librarians? Navigate to the Ask a Librarian tab where you can find all of our contact info!
When searching the library catalog or secondary databases, it is important to know which targeted keywords and phrases to start with. Here are some basic keywords that can help kickstart your research:
Note: keywords with an asterisk (*) placed in conjunction within the search indicate it will search all words that begin with the letters in front of it (for example: homosexual* will search for homosexual, homosexuals and homosexuality).
