Are you searching for opportunities to gain more experience?

Do you lack the time to conduct a full-on internship?

Micro-Internships are short-term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. These projects enable Career Launchers to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build their networks as they seek the right full-time role. Unlike traditional internships, Micro-Internships can take place year-round, typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kick-off. Micro-Internships are used by companies ranging from those in the Fortune 100 to emerging start-ups and go across departments including sales, marketing, technology, HR, and finance.

Tips for a Successful Internship

Steps to take after accepting the internship:

  1. Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable. Be on time. An internship is an opportunity for learning and growing. It will provide you with skills to add to your resume. Seek to learn.
  2. If there is an issue/problem/emergency – CALL THE EMPLOYER/CONTACT/SUPERVISOR – DO NOT TEXT OR SEND AN EMAIL.
  3. Dress appropriately. Dress for the ‘next job’ not the one you have.
  4. Finished with your project?  The day’s assignment? Inquire if you can assist in another area, and show initiative.
  5. Take notes so that you can read them back and they make sense to YOU.
  6. Always have a pad and pen with you.  (Yes, you can tap into your phone but why take the chance of that being misinterpreted as a lack of interest?)
  7. Walk into the office with a positive attitude and demeanor. Be kind, use the words thank you and please, and ask people how they are.
  8. Keep track of your hours and the time you put in. Hold yourself accountable for the responsibilities.
  9. Keep in touch with the Career Connection office and let us know how things are going.
  10. GOOD LUCK! WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOU AND KNOW YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!
