A guide to utilizing Wagner's subscription to the New York Times for teaching and research.

Setting Up Your New York Times Account

Go to the Pass page.

There will be a search box above which says Find School... In that box type Wagner college.

From there you will be taken to a page with further instructions. Complete the Sign Up form with your Wagner College email address. When you see the Start Your Access screen, you have successfully registered.

Q: I already have a paid subscription, how can I get access through the Wagner College's subscription?

A: If you have an existing NYT (paid) account, you will need to cancel it before it can be associated with the Wagner Site License. To cancel it contact customer care via email:, telephone: 800-591-9233, or ChatOnce it's canceled, that will "free up" your existing username so that it may be associated with the site license through Wagner.

Q: I already have an unpaid account, how can I get access through the Wagner College's subscription?

A: When registering via the link provided on this guide, if you have an existing NYT (unpaid) account, once you've chosen your school and have begun the sign up process you should not click "Create Account" when trying to create your Wagner Account on the NYT welcome page. Instead, you should click the option for "Already have an account? Log in here" and log in with your existing NYT username / password. This will link your existing username / password to the Wagner Site License.

Q: Why can’t I log in?

A: You must first activate your account from Wagner College's network by using the link to create an account (see access instructions above if you are accessing from off campus).

Q: How do I reactivate my account?

A: Follow these directions:

1. Navigate to

3. On campus, click "here" off campus Click "Go". (Off campus patrons will also be required to login through our proxy.)
4: Click: Already have an account? Log in "here" link and login with your NYT username and password.

Q: Why am I asked to login on some occasions and not others?

A: Your browser cache or history may have cleared itself. Go to and log back in.

Q: Does the Wagner College NYT subscription have any restrictions?

A: Yes. See below:

  •  You must have a valid Wagner College email address to register.
  • Our access does not include e-reader editions, Premium Crosswords, Times Insider or The New York Times Crosswords apps. NYTimes apps are not supported on all devices.
  • Because of certain copyright restrictions, access to archived articles within the date range 1923-1980 is limited. Within this date range, you may only open 5 PDF articles per day.
